Public Classes

Class Information

How many seats are available in a Public Class?

Public Class sizes typically are between 10 – 28, depending on which studio the class is scheduled in. Tickets are sold on a first come, first serve basis, so don’t wait too long to book!

Can I bring friends and family to a Public Class?

Of course!  The more painters, the more colorful! The online checkout process allows you to purchase multiple tickets in one purchase – just enter the number of tickets you would like to purchase. We’ve got lots of room: our main (street-front) studio can accommodate up to 28 painters; our second studio can seat 15 – 20 painters. Our sister business, the Malerische Galerie (next door) can accommodate 15 painters, too!

Private parties may be reserved for any day of the week. A minimum of 8 painters is required, (or the fiscal equivalent), except for Saturday’s between 4 – 8:00 pm, of which the minimum is 10.
For more information see our Private Parties page.

What Does a Public Class Cost?

Public Classes vary in pricing; typically, full-priced classes are $35 to $40 each. Sometimes we’ll run specials, though, for $30 or even less!

*Register in advance, either online or over the phone, for the class/party you are going to attend. We recommend purchasing advance tickets as some parties sell out and some may cancel due to low enrollment.

Please Note: New paintings and works that require a longer class to complete may cost $40 +. These will typically be those that are a little more complex; usually architectural, more ‘finessed’, have complex color schemes, etc. That said, beginners shouldn’t be trepidacious about any of our offerings! Our artist instructors tailor their teaching processes for beginners – and beyond.

How do I sign up for a class?

On the Calendar Page, choose an evening or painting you would like to attend that is labeled “Public Class”, or if you are attending a friend’s private party, find it under a purple “Private Party” header on our Calendar. Click on event; you’ll find the “Book Now” button that will take you to our easy payment page. Our quantity box allows you to purchase multiples, just enter the number of guests you are covering.

If you need to ask some questions about the class before you book, “Contact Us“! Call or send us a message via our site and add any notes you may have.

Private parties may be reserved for any day and time of the week! We have the ability to facilitate more than one party at the same time. For more information see our Private Parties page.

Minimum guests for Private Parties Sunday - Friday is 8.
Private Parties on Saturday, starting at, and after 4:00 pm require a minimum of 10.

Can I purchase my ticket when I arrive?

No matter what, we need to know you’re coming; please pre-register! We do accept payment at the door for most classes. If a class is close to selling out, we will require advance payment for your ticket, as preference will be given to those with online registrations.

Do you require a deposit?

For a Public Class, no, but we need you to pre-register so we can plan for you. Just click the painting / picture link and get yourself a ticket (or more) online! You can also call us and we’ll take care of it over the phone.

For a Private Party, yes; we require a deposit to be made via our Private Parties link (amount will be equal to that of two tickets to the party). Only the party deposit will be charged to you, unless you are paying for guests yourself, of course.

When do I need to arrive for class?

Plan to arrive no earlier than 10 minutes prior to the start time of a Public Class. If we are still setting up, early birds may have to wait outside until preparations are finished. You'll have the first 10 to 15 minutes of class to get a bite, a sip, or just get settled in and relax before we start painting. Private Parties are a bit less strict, though with the same basic guidelines. Please be considerate about leaving within 20 minutes after class ends, as our artist and staff must tidy up and they likely have other obligations.

What do I need to bring to class?

Your favorite beverages, snacks, and your smile! We provide everything you will need; instructor, corkscrews,, canvas, easels, paint, aprons, etc. You're not responsible for cleaning up... You are our guests. Your job is to let loose, enjoy yourselves and concentrate on creating your masterpiece!

I don't have any artistic talent. Will I finish the painting?

Everyone paints the same thing at the same time, and there will be all types and levels of artistic novices in attendance. If you haven’t picked up a paintbrush since grade school, no problem! Our lessons are simple, structured and our paintings broken down into shapes that are easy to replicate. We encourage the creative spirit and you are free to add your own personal touches.

That’s what makes it so wonderful; seeing different renditions of the same subject. ..Priceless!

When will we see next month's calendar?

We try to have the next month’s calendar posted by or before the 5th of the month. We make it a point of offering seasonal – and local! – subjects for each month.  Our newsletter typically coincides with this release, although we will alert you of very special offers independent of our calendar release newsletter.
Don’t miss out receiving our newsletter, “Paint Splatters”; enter your email address in the box on the home page, confirm on your end, and you’re set!

Can I bring something other than wine?

Of course! You may bring beverages of the adult variety (no hard alcohol), and anything else… Soft drinks, juice, tea, etc. We provide ice and or buckets for chilling your beverages. We do expect that all painters act responsibly on and off the premises. Please arrange for a designated driver to insure safely arriving home with your masterpiece.

What size and medium are the paintings?

Typically, canvases are 16 x 20, but we’ll sometimes offer other sizes, such as a 12″ x 12″ square, depending on the painting we are doing that night. We use good quality acrylics which are full of pigment and fast-drying so your masterpiece will be ready to take home with you that night.
